Description
ETHIDIUM
Preventive & Curative Injectable Trypanocidal Tablet
ETHIDIUM, based on the active ingredient Homidium Bromide, is indicated for the treatment and subsequent prevention of bovine trypanosomiasis caused by Trypanosoma congolense and Trypanosoma vivax
A single dose of ETHIDIUM rapidly clears (72 hours) the bloodstream of parasites and, in addition, provides up to six weeks' protection against further infection. Trials have shown that this period of prophylaxis can be significantly increased in areas of low challenge where ETHIDIUM has been used over a period of time (17 weeks' protection)
ADMINISTRATION & DOSAGE
- The recommended dosage is 1mg / Kg body weight so that one tablet is a standard for a 250 Kg animal
- 10ml water should be added per tablet (1 Litre per 100 tablets tube). To reduce risk of infection, it is advisable to used boiled or distilled water
- Bulk solution of ETHIDIUM will remain stable for 14 days
- Administer 2ml per 50 Kg body weight by deep intramuscular injection, the preferred site being the middle third of the side of the neck. Massage the site of injection well
